Rose and Kate were eating lunch early today due to a tennis meet. I was picking up the cafeteria after MS lunch and they stayed a few minutes extra to help me. Rose even got something from under a table because she said she "looked more mobile than me". I think that's code for Mr Swanson is old. :) Either way, they get a #selfiewiththeprincipal.

Cason spent his free time before school helping a teammate with his science so he can play next week. What an amazing thing to give of yourself for a teammate. Great job Cason! #selfiewiththeprincipal

3rd Grade classes at Heller Elementary participated in a state-wide mock trial by Zoom. What a great experience for our students. Ask your child if they found the individual guilty or not guilty from the testimony and evidence presented.

Last night, what is believed to be a “TikTok or Snapchat” message was being circulated via social media. The message indicated there might be a false fire alarm and a school shooting. USD #461 administration sought the help of the SRO and the Neodesha Police Department to determine if this was a local threat or part of the current national trend. At this time, local officials believe that the threat originated out of state and does not pose a danger to Neodesha students or staff. The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority as it is every day. However, such incidents require a heightened sense of safety and security. We will continue to monitor this and other situations in the future. Thank you to the Neodesha Police Department and the SRO for their continued dedication to the safety of our students and staff. Our first WILD activity is happening this Wednesday, September 18th! If your child turned in their slip, they will be going fishing. A couple pieces of information for you: We have some fishing poles available, but your child is welcome to bring their own. If you are sending it to school with them, PLEASE make sure their name is on it somehow. If you are planning to pick them up from the pond, they will need to be picked up by 5:00 pm. Otherwise, they will be bussed back to North Lawn.

These five were "caught" cleaning up the east side of the bleachers after volleyball on Tuesday. One of them said "we just think we should help take care of our school". They all deserved a #selfiewiththeprincipal".
