NHS art students participated in the Labette Community College High School Art Competition and Exhibition on April 3rd in Parsons. Students brought at least one art piece they created during the current school year. We had two Streaks bring home hardware: Senior Hailey Blankinship won 3rd place in Digital Art for her piece titled “The Future of AI” and junior Kyler Nalley received an honorable mention in Miscellaneous Art for his crochet tapestry titled “The Game”. Great job Bluestreaks!

NHS art students competed for the first time at the Mark Arts Student Versus competition in Wichita on March 6th. This competition was unique in that students competed on site in front of an audience with a 20 minute time frame to create anything in either 2-D media or 3-D media. Each school was allowed two participants; one for each category. Senior Hailey Blankinship competed in the 2-D category by painting, and sophomore Addison Griggs competed in the 3-D category by throwing on the pottery wheel. These two were cheered on by a support squad of their peers that were able to come and observe and vote on their favorite pieces. While neither student received awards, it was still an awesome opportunity for them to grow and connect with other young artists! We already can’t wait for next year! Go Streaks!!
