Update on Troubling Incident at Heller
Friday, November 6, 2020
Parents/Guardians,
The Chief of Police, Sam Tomlinson, has confirmed that our incident yesterday at Heller Elementary School on the playground was a Grandparent who thought he was talking to his grandson from his pickup truck. The students had masks on, and he honestly didn't realize he was talking to the wrong student. Officer Tomlinson has reviewed the appropriate procedures to get messages to students with this Grandparent so hopefully, this won't happen again. The parents of the students involved have been contacted about this news. We felt it was important to notify the community and everyone involved that this situation has been handled. Thank you to everyone who helped out. We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe.

Parents,
Today it has been reported that a dusty, white, extended cab pickup truck was at Heller Elementary School at noon recess time. The driver of the truck, who has a Santa-like beard, told two of our 2nd Grade students that he would be there after school today to pick them up. The students could not identify the man and alerted the adults supervising recess. The police have been notified and they are looking for the possible suspect. All school staff have been notified and everyone will be on alert when dismissing students from our schools today. Please notify the school office if you need to change your after-school plans.
Thanks,
Juanita Erickson
