The October Bluestreak Leadership Award goes to senior, Michaela Deegan. She is the daughter of Amy Deegan and the late Rolondo Deegan.

Michaela participates in FCCLA, Upward Bound, Grace Baptist Church Youth Group, and works at G&W Foods. Even though she excels in all her efforts, her greatest contribution to Neodesha High School is her work ethic and positive attitude, as evidenced by the numerous comments returned by teachers.

“Hard worker!  Always went above and beyond what I asked.” - Mrs. Blann

“Michaela works hard. She knows what she wants and works to make it happen.”  - Ms. Botts

“Michaela is an awesome, hard working young lady.  I enjoy talking to her when I see her.  She always has a smile on her face.” - Ms. Henry

“She’s a great kid.! works hard, is honest, caring, and kind.” - Mrs. Essington

“Michaela does an excellent job of taking care of her responsibilities whenever she misses class.” - Mr. Casteel

“Michaela is a hard worker and conscientious student.   Math doesn't always come easy to her, but she puts forth the effort to do well and succeed.”  - Mrs. Stover

“What a sweetheart she is.  Michaela is a very positive person and always gives 100%.  I'm glad I got to have her in class this year.” - Mrs. Wheeler

“When I had Michaela in class she always worked hard and would try her best. She was always very conscientious to me as a teacher and to others.” - Mrs. Prunty

“She is a quiet leader and the definition of humility.  I have never had a student that would give up their lunch to stay and help me in the classroom!! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate and depend on her! She is so very deserving of this award!!” - Mrs. Busch

“I was privileged to be Micheala's Senior sponsor and she was very organized and willing to learn a new activity, even pushing me to learn more about our craft (crocheting). This was not just a "fun" activity but she is passionate about her field of study (nursing) and especially wants to work in a NIC U or with young children. She was thrilled when getting at least one response from the hospital after receiving about 50 Octopi. We had a great time getting together, Although sad to say we never got to that "Ice Cream" I kept wanting to have! Congratulations!!” - Mrs. Canterbury
